Microsoft has called the new operating system Windows 10 instead of the expected Windows 9, now released as a Technical preview.

New features include the expected start menu, search is back in the start menu and has been sped up and improved, it can search the web too.

Metro apps - here Modern (Modern apps) have been renamed to Universal apps and are no longer just part of Metro but are also on the desktop in the window and can minimize and zoom just like classic apps, this actually brings the app from Metro (Modern) to the desktop (Universal).

Switching between apps has also been modernized, with better previews of programs, and it's also related to the introduction of four workspaces that you can easily switch between to get a better overview of programs and increase work efficiency.

What people have long expected from Microsoft is also the ability to paste text into the CMD command line using the CTRL+V keyboard shortcut.

This version of Enterprise includes the following:

Windows To Go - a feature that allows you to install Windows 10 on a USB flash drive and have it as a portable operating system.

DirectAccess - the ability to connect to the company's internal network without the need for a VPN

BranchCache - allows you to cache files, sites and other content from central servers so that this data is not repeatedly downloaded from the Internet, saving traffic and speeding up the Internet.

AppLocker - a tool that allows you to restrict access to applications and files based on the user logged in.

VDI Enhancements - Changes in RemoteFX and Windows Server 2012 will enable powerful 3D gaming and use of, for example, USB or touch devices across the network.

Windows 8 App Deployment - tablets and PCs in the domain running Windows 8 Enterprise will be automatically set up to load internal Windows 8 Metro apps.
