KNOSSOS

KNOSSOS is a 3D electron microscopy visualization software that allows users to view and analyze large 3D image datasets. The software is capable of displaying images up to several terabytes in size and supports two annotation methods: skeletonization and 3D segmentation.

Skeletonization is a method for creating a skeleton of a 3D object. A skeleton is a set of points that represent the vertices of a 3D object. Skeletonization can be used to analyze the shape of a 3D object or to identify important structures in a 3D object.

3D segmentation is a method for dividing a 3D image dataset into separate objects. Objects can be identified by their properties such as shape, color, or texture. 3D segmentation can be used to identify different structures in a 3D image dataset or to measure the properties of individual structures.
