The story of the game is set in the mining settlement of Loučovice, which was hastily established after the discovery of rich reserves of ember - a rare and mysterious ore that can enchant or corrupt everything it touches.

But this destructive force can have immeasurable consequences, and players must venture into the bowels of a nearby mountain and the deep mines beneath it to discover the full impact that ember has had on the civilizations that lived here in times past.

Torchlight won't just be a pure copy of Diablo though, the developers had to add something too, of course.

One of the extra things will be a pet that you'll have by your side right from the start. A dog or cat, who can't die during combat, will collect items for you and can even run into town to sell them and bring you money. Which means you can just worry about the action and no lengthy walking to and from town.
