Planetary Defence

A remake of Planetary Defense from the osmibit computers, in which you shoot an artificial satellite orbiting the planet you must protect. Enemies fly in from all sides on a collision course with the planet, and in later levels there are cruisers that bombard the planet. As the difficulty of the game increases in each level, the enemies become more numerous and faster, the planet smaller, and the cruisers bombard with greater cadence. You have three lives to start, and since there is no way to get more, you must try to last as long as possible and get as many points as possible, which are added to the top of the screen in a binary counter. The game will generate an image when you're done, where you can read the points you've accumulated in decimal. You gain points for destroying enemies and hitting cruisers, and lose points for destroying the planet you are supposed to protect.

Controls:

• Left mouse button to start the game and shoot
• Return to menu - Escape

Tips to get started:

• watch the radar to see where the next enemy is coming from and where the cruiser is likely to park
• Satellite missiles have different speeds and less dispersion, so shoot in bursts
• you can fire at will through the planet's atmosphere and excavated terrain
• sometimes it pays to shoot a piece of the planet to get a larger firing angle -
• a cruiser can be destroyed by hitting the centre - so fire from below or above.
