STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl

In the Zone, as the affected area came to be called, a series of anomalous energy disturbances appeared, against which even the strongest protective suits of the rescue teams proved ineffective. Months passed and everyone was helpless.

The army sealed off the entire area to prevent unauthorized persons from entering, and also to at least partially convince the local population that they had the situation firmly in their hands. Today, almost four years after the explosion, it is already possible to penetrate at least a few kilometres deep into the Zone. This is what the Stalkers do - adventurers who search the Zone for artifacts and anomalous formations that are in high demand among certain organizations and groups.
