During the construction of a new motorway bypass, workers discover the entrance to an old adit. After entering the adit, it is discovered that it is probably a German adit, deliberately filled in at the end of World War II. A West Bohemian museum worker is called in to inform the superior authority in Prague of the discovery. The news of the discovery is printed in the regional press the next day and, thanks to the absence of more "interesting" disaster news or tabloids, even makes the evening television news.

Professor Wilde sits at his desk in his study, going over the press coverage of the past week. Several news items catch his eye. He even spends more than 20 minutes on one of them, with the help of a computer and a few books. Professor Wilde picks up the receiver of his phone and dials a number.

Martin Holan is a Czech studying Archaeology and Linguistics in France thanks to the support of his uncle Professor Wilde. But his uncle has just asked him to take a little trip home to Bohemia. According to his uncle's instructions, Martin Holan is to meet his uncle's acquaintance in Prague, who is to give him permission for an archaeologist to enter a discovered German adit. However, the uncle's contact fails to show up for the meeting and Martin goes to her apartment. He finds the young woman who was supposed to give him permission to enter the adit dead and her apartment searched. A visit to the homeland and a banal exploration of a German tunnel from the end of the war turns into a story full of unexpected events and twists. Gradually, the greatest adventure of his life unfolds before Martin. An initially innocent journey to beautiful Prague at night turns into a dangerous search for an ancient alien civilization whose traces have been hidden by time. It all began during World War II, when the Germans, driven by the idea of omnipotent weapons and an inexhaustible resource they hoped would help their war machine, discovered the first shreds of ancient secrets. During a thrilling journey from Prague to the dark spaces of the Mayan pyramids, Martin glimpses the mirror of the past, but also discovers that he and his uncle are far from the only ones who are not put to sleep by ancient secrets. But in a plot full of suspense and mystical atmosphere, will Martin be able to fulfill his uncle Professor Wilde's long-held dream of unraveling the mysteries of the long-dead Mayan nation? So far, everything seems to be carefully hidden in the endless abyss of the past time.
