WinEdt

WinEdt is a powerful and versatile text editor for Windows with a strong predisposition for creating [La]TeX documents. As an editor, WinEdt allows you to take advantage of its intuitive predefined interface and graphical controls (all customizable). WinEdt also provides a means to customize the keyboard interface, allowing you to use double-key shortcuts that can be associated with any menu item.

WinEdt is configured by default to act as a front end for MiKTeX or TeX Live. However, it is quite easy to define a completely different set of accessories. By default, the Options -> Configuration menu already contains several alternative configurations.

The WinEdt menu contains a lot of useful commands, and many of them are associated with shortcuts. Taking the time to browse through the menu is highly recommended. If you don't know what's there, you don't know how to use it. For example, it is easy to move a selected block of text to the left or right, or to insert or remove comments before selected lines. The default Edit menu contains such items, and the most commonly used ones are associated with simple keyboard shortcuts.
