Peter Brown is a mob associate in Las Vegas. Bailing out, collecting debts, and silencing inconvenient people, that's his practice. He owed some money to a big fish in Chicago and only after threats did he decide to pay up. He got the hundred grand he owed and drove across Nevada to Chicago in his old car. Unfortunately for him, his car died in the desert and he went looking for help. He made it as far as the town of Superior, unaware that this would completely turn his life around.

The player learns all this from the opening animation. After that, it's up to the player to decide how he's going to fare as criminal Peter Brown in a nasty town in the middle of the desert.
