The Platinum German Dictionary is a comprehensive general dictionary for all those who work with German at a higher level, e.g. as translators, university students or representatives of large companies. The dictionary has been compiled on the basis of the new German orthography and contains the proven vocabulary of the last decades in more than 230,000 entries. A password is an entire word divided into its individual meanings, for which the individual equivalents and their relationships are clearly displayed, together with examples, established phrases, supplementary notes, style and subject-specific signs of meaning and, last but not least, at the end of the password, the phrases and idioms in which the password occurs. The individual meanings of each entry are consistently ordered by frequency of use.

Synonyms, derived words, and phrases are also displayed for entries. The passwords in the dictionary can be searched both ways and in any form. In addition to this form search, a full-text search is also possible, which finds the searched word or phrase wherever it occurs in the dictionary. There are also 300 subject headings, which can be used to learn vocabulary from different areas or to be tested. A great advantage is the possibility of adding more vocabulary and creating your own topic headings. In addition to the topics, the dictionary offers basic vocabulary divided into thirty lessons with the possibility of creating your own lessons.

The dictionary includes a comprehensive, concise and illustrative overview of German grammar, arranged according to word types. In addition to the traditionally used tables of inflections and tenses, much of the grammatical information is summarized in tables, making it very easy to navigate through the grammar. In addition, the user has a separate glossary of abbreviations, which contains over 4500 entries, some of which have more than ten meanings. By default, this glossary is active in Lexicon and is included after the large glossary, so you can easily use them together.
