The Large Dictionary of Contemporary English offers detailed entries with differentiated and clarified meanings. In addition to the standard translations, it contains a wealth of additional information (idioms, established phrases, example sentences, synonyms, etc.), spoken pronunciation and an overview of English grammar. The app will also help you learn vocabulary.

Although the Big Dictionary is intended as a general dictionary, its current scope already extends well into the realm of technical terminology, and a large number of more specialized established phrases from many fields ranging from economics to law, chemistry, biology, medicine, and technology can be found. One of the greatest strengths of the dictionary's contents is the large number of example sentences from the common language and the English language corpus that accompany individual entries and translations, forming a database of tens of thousands of sentences and phrases to which concise translations are directly linked.

In addition, the contents of the large dictionary are supplemented by an overview of the most common English abbreviations with their decomposition into individual words. The dictionary also incorporates the WordNet English explanatory dictionary, which allows you to search through the vocabulary by synonymy groups and by the superordination and subordination of words, regardless of their position in the alphabet. The user can use Roget's Thesaurus of Synonyms, which contains about a thousand subject areas, to find synonymic phrases according to their individual meanings.
