After the Battle of Hattin in 1187, the Muslim Sultan Saladin conquered Jerusalem and overthrew most of the Crusader dominions in Palestine. In response to this catastrophe, the Pope proclaimed the 3rd Crusade. Many great men went overseas, including King Philip II of France. Augustus. But only one man was willing to go to any lengths to destroy Saladin - Richard the Lionheart, the greatest warrior on the English throne.
