Manufacturer's words about GhettOut:

"SOCIETY HERE AND NOW, o. p. s. is dedicated to social work with families who live on the margins of society. In addition, it has long been dedicated to the production of (so far only board) games that simulate social reality and can be used as didactic tools in education. The computer game Ghettout represents the culmination of our experience in both game development and work with socially excluded people.

Social exclusion can take many forms. The game GhettOut is set in an environment characterised by larger-than-average families with children who form wide family networks. This environment is home to a high number of unemployed people and most people have not completed more than primary education.

Not everyone in Vybydlov is related, but there are enough of them to keep you under their constant scrutiny. If you go to work or otherwise save money, someone will come to borrow from you right away. And that's the way it is with everything, any success you have will not just be your success, but you will have to share it with your family. If you give, lend, host, then you will be popular in Vybydlov, but you will probably not buy an apartment. You'll start saving, you'll have cash, but you won't want to give it away? You'll be unpopular, your family will gossip about you, and if you ever need help, you probably won't get it... In the end, you probably won't buy an apartment either. Try to maintain an emancipated relationship with your family so that you can save some money and not be gossiped about by your family. But beware! The family in play is not just your parents and one or two siblings, but aunts, uncles, cousins, often so distant that you yourself have no idea if you have them. In Vybydlov, it's a little different - try to work legally, pay rent and electricity, and don't cheat.

The game GhettOut is a simulation of social reality. But Vybydlov doesn't have to be the familiar Khanov, Genoa, Masokombinat or Předlice, it can be a seemingly normal neighbourhood of a city where only some residents don't have the privacy most of us are used to. A large number of the Roma who have arrived from Slovak settlements in recent years or decades live in such an unfree environment. Most of them have been helped by their family at some point, so it is not easy to turn one's back on it. Try to live and survive as part of an extended family, a solidarity network, and you will find that working illegally or occasionally cheating is often the only way to go."
