BOOTPROT

 

This program checks the integrity of the computer's system areas, i.e. CMOS memory, MASTER BOOT, BOOT SECTOR and executable files. It works on the principle of checksums and can therefore detect unknown (i.e. brand new) viruses. It detects both BOOTviruses and file viruses. It can also cure all boot viruses and master boot viruses. Treatment of files infected with a polymorphic steal virus is not recommended, as the functionality of the cured file cannot be guaranteed.
