Active SMART

The Active SMART system utility takes advantage of the built-in S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) feature found on most newer hard drives. You must have this feature enabled in the Bios for the program to work properly.

Active SMART offers a clear way to monitor the status of your hard drive. Combining device technology with this program gives you accurate data that can help prevent hard drive destruction and loss of your data.

The program monitors the temperature of the drives, the status of the read head and even alerts you to the possible collapse of the entire device. This handy tool can send these warnings and reports on the status of the drives by e-mail to the address you specify, allowing remote management.

Since version 2.41, it supports both SCSI and IDE devices.
