USB Drive Letter Manager

USBDLM (USB Drive Letter Manager) gives you the freedom to assign a custom drive letter to USB devices that are connected to your computer. It runs as a Windows service, which means that the logged-in user does not need administrator rights to change drive letters.

Automatically resolves conflicts between USB drives and network or spare drives of the currently logged-in user.
You can also define new default drive letters for USB drives and much more.
Works on Windows XP through Windows 11 and Server 2003 through 2022.

USBDLM allows you to:

• check if a letter is used by the network share of the currently logged in user, and assign the next letter that is actually available.
• reserve letters from being used for local drives
• assign a letter from a list of new default letters, which also depends on many different criteria such as active user, drive type, connection (USB, FireWire), USB port, volume designation, size, and more.
• assign letters for a specific USB drive by placing an INI file on the drive
• remove drive letters from card readers until a card is inserted
• display a balloon help with the assigned drive letter(s)
• define autorun events depending on many different criteria
