Redmond Path

A system path is an environment variable that specifies where the computer locates programs and other files that are needed to run them. If you want to add or remove a program path on a Windows computer, there are several ways to do so.

First method:

Open Control Panel and click System & Security. Then click Advanced System Settings, and under Environment, click Change Environment Variables.

In the Environment Variables dialog box, locate the Path variable and click it. Then click Edit.

In the Edit Environment Variable dialog box, type the path to the program in the New Value field. Then click Add.

To remove a program path, select it in the Original Values box and click Delete.

The other way:

Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder that contains the program you want to add or remove.

Right-click the folder name and select Properties.

In the Properties dialog box, go to the Path tab.

To add a program path, type it in the Program Path field.

To remove a program path, select it in the Program Path field and click Delete.

The third way:

Open a command prompt with administrator privileges.

Enter the following command and press Enter.

setx PATH "%PATH%;C:Program FilesProgram.exe"

"

This command adds the Program path.exe to the system path.

To remove the path to the program, type the following command and press Enter.

"

setx PATH "%PATH:C:Program FilesProgram.exe="

"

This command removes the path to Program.exe from the system path.
