OptDel is a tool to optimize partitioning.
The author programmed this task using Excel-DNA, which is a project for integrating .NET into Excel. OptDel is written in C# and requires .NET Framework 4.0.
The algorithm used is very fast, it takes about 5-18 seconds to optimize cutting 2,000 items (depending on the input data, Dual-Core 2.80GHz processor).
You can try it out. It is for Excel 97 and higher, tested in 2002 and 2010 (32bit).
