NovaVision

NovaVision is designed for viewing files of any type. Unlike other programs of a similar type, NovaVision abstracts from the information contained in a particular file. Instead of information, NovaVision displays data. This is similar to viewing files in a HEX editor, in which the information encoded in the file is not visible. If the file contains text, symbol codes will be visible in the HEX editor instead of text.

Instead of displaying the numeric values of the codes, NovaVision displays them in a color scheme so that each code has a corresponding brightness of color. The result is a color matrix that represents the file data. In the current version, there are two modes of data display: continuous and discontinuous. In both modes, the file is displayed as a one-dimensional sequence of bytes - a string of data. When displayed, the data string is maintained on the screen line by line.
