Notepad2 - čeština

Notepad2 is an open-source, light-weight text editor for Windows, released under the BSD license. It is written in Visual C++ 7 by Florian Balmer and uses the Scintilla component. It was first released to the public in April 2004.
It works on the principle of Microsoft's Notepad, but is enhanced with many features. One of the biggest tweaks is highlighting the syntax of many programming languages, using the aforementioned Scintilla component, but you can actually customize it.

> Other indisputable advantages are; length is only a little over a mega, so it takes up only a tiny amount of space, it doesn't need to be installed so it doesn't clutter the registry, it only uses the INI configuration file, it's free.

The program works seamlessly on all Microsft operating systems, including Vista and Windows 7. The harder way is to integrate it into windows by replacing the original notepad. The integration is explained in detail on the author's official website, unfortunately only in English.
