MediaCheck

MediaCheck will serve well for those who want to check the data integrity of their CD-ROM media, but not just on it! CDCheck works on a system of empty opening and reading the contents of files to see if there is any error while reading. If so, CDCheck will report this and allow the user to choose what to do next. Above all, however, it will make an entry in the log file, which will then provide comprehensive information about the overall progress of the scan. MediaCheck includes three methods of checking (reading) - full read of the data, in which the entire contents of the file are read "blank" (=100% check), block read, which allows faster checking by, by reading only certain blocks of data from the file and skipping others, and only opening files is a special variant where CDCheck only attempts to open the file but does not examine its contents further.

MediaCheck is primarily designed to test CD media, but it can be used for everything else without any problem, i.e. from ZIP drives, JAZZs to network environments and even floppy media.
