HEVC H265 Video codec

HEVC H.265 Video codec for playback of videos recorded e.g. from DVB-T2 broadcast TV with .ts file extension for playback in Windows Media Player or other system applications. Without this codec, you cannot play the video (you will only hear the audio track and a black image), the codec is also needed for example when you are trying to convert the video to another format e.g. .AVI or .MP4, in order to convert the video you need to install this codec on your system.

HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding), also known as H.265, is a modern video codec that brings significant improvements in video compression over its predecessor H.264 (AVC).

Benefits of HEVC:

• Save storage space. Videos encoded in HEVC take up less disk space, making it ideal for storage and sharing.
• Lower bandwidth requirements. HEVC allows you to stream videos at a lower bit rate, making it ideal for real-time video streaming and for use in areas with low internet connectivity.
• Better picture quality. HEVC allows for better video quality at the same bit rate compared to H.264.

Disadvantages of HEVC:

• Higher computational complexity. Encoding and decoding video in HEVC is more computationally intensive than H.264.
• Patents. HEVC is protected by patents, so its implementation can be more expensive for device manufacturers.
