Learning about electricity and magnetism is one of the most challenging topics in school physics. It is therefore essential that pupils are sufficiently motivated when discussing it. Electricity 1 is the fifth title in the Physics in an Interesting Way series. As with the previous volumes, it is not intended to replace a classical textbook or a collection of physics examples. It aims to provide pupils and their teachers with enough diverse material to take a "different" look at seemingly incomprehensible, boring and "useless" material. And this is in line with the new school curricula, because electricity is literally with us at every step. The core part of the Physics in an Interesting Way, Electricity 1 programme is the Curiosities, containing almost a hundred illustrated texts. They cover various applications of electricity in science, medicine, technology and the home. The diversity of this section is evident from the titles of the articles, e.g. Physicists on Stamps, The Glamour of Old Instruments, The Story of the Iron, The Compact Fluorescent Lamp, Electronics in the Car, Lie Detector and the Electric Chair, Mysterious Discovery in Baghdad, The Plasma Screen, How to Make a Photocell, The Fly Ash Separator, The History of the Telephone, Signals from the Heart and Brain. They are responsible for this progress.
