The story begins in the hospital with the death of your mother and the birth of your character, which you will customize in your own image with the help of your father. Every aspect of character creation will be based on the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. As you grow in the vault, you will receive your first book allowing you to choose the starting state of each of your seven primary abilities. Later in life, you will receive your first weapons and a wrist computer, serving as a sort of menu to determine your character traits and skills. There will be 14 of these in total, and you can choose 3 of them to grow at a faster rate than the others as you level up.
