EURO Angličtina + slovník

EURO English + Dictionary is designed especially for intermediate and advanced students who need to use English when communicating with the European Union institutions. Students will improve their English, especially professional English, used not only in the EU institutions but also in other business and official settings and situations. Through the course, students will also gain useful knowledge about EU institutions, history and issues.

The dictionary contains entries spoken by native speakers, explanations, examples of usage, grammar notes, phrases and phrasal verbs. A full-text search tool is included.

Course
This course has been developed on the basis of the experience of teaching "European" English at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. It is based on the teaching texts and the experience gained by the Presto language school teachers at this Ministry. The course is suitable for students who want to expand their vocabulary and improve their knowledge of the official language used in professional institutions such as the EU, as well as practise listening and comprehension of professional texts. Each lesson is based on listening and reading a text related to the European Union. Subsequent exercises focus on understanding the terminology used in the text and allow students to practise their newly acquired vocabulary and phrasing as well as grammar.

Dictionary
The course is linked to the Czech-English and English-Czech dictionary. By hovering the mouse over an unknown word, the word is searched and translated in the dictionary (Point&See). The dictionary is voiced by native speakers and includes a full-text search including morphology.
