Epi Info

Epi Info is used globally for rapid assessment of disease incidence, in the development of small to medium-sized disease surveillance systems, as a component integrated with other large-scale or enterprise-wide public health information systems, and in the ongoing education of public health professionals learning the science of epidemiology, tools, and techniques.

Epi Info's Form Designer module allows users to create questionnaires and data entry forms in Epi Info. Using Form Designer, the user places questions and data entry fields on one or more pages and customizes the data entry process with conditional skip patterns, data validation, and custom calculations programmed by the user using Form Designer's Control Code.

Epi Info's Enter module automatically creates a database from the questionnaire in the form designer. Users enter data, edit existing data, or search for records. With the Enter key, forms are displayed and users perform data entry while the checker code verifies the data or performs automatic calculations that were entered in the form designer.

The Epi Map module displays geographic maps with data from Epi Info. Epi Map is built on ESRI's (Environmental Systems Research Institute) MapObjects software. Epi Map displays shapefiles containing geographic boundaries layered with the results of data from the Analysis module.
