Counter Control

Counter Control is a small program that monitors fixed performance counters on Intel processors. Windows Defender antivirus software will sometimes take over all hardware performance counters and use them in a way that can significantly degrade system performance. Counter Control can help you identify and mitigate this problem.

When Counter Control is run, it will display a list of the performance counters that are in use. If you see that a performance counter is using Windows Defender, you can disable it by clicking the "Disable" button. This will help improve system performance.
