Aaru's Awakening particularly captivates players with its superb graphics, which can instantly engross with their mysterious and often abstract appearance. The game, by the way, is dedicated to a semi-mythical creature named Aaru. She represents something like a combination of a monkey and a lion and definitely manages to live up to the strengths of both creatures. Players will be able to tackle some of the game's obstacles with strength, and use their agility on others. Many of these can only be solved by the special ability of teleportation. This is closely linked to the ability to fire a special light ball. This can be used either as a simple attack (by holding down the button, the orb's energy can be accumulated to inflict more damage on the enemy) or as a means of teleportation. The orb travels for some time in the direction the player sent it, bouncing off solid obstacles. After pressing another button, the player is then transported to the exact spot where the orb is located. The teleport can be used for, among other things, a deadly attack (players know the legendary telefrags from multiplayer games like Quake or Counter-Strike). Aaru's Awakening in its alpha form does not offer a story and serves the player incomplete game content. Still, it's worth checking out, not only for the stunning, hand-drawn graphics, but also for the game's soundtrack.

Progression through the game is a constant learning process, and until the player has memorized the sequence of moves step by step, they will go no further.
